Monday Afternoon’s Box Score

We talked a bit about the game’s action here, but we’ll use this space each morning during the season to get the Braves’ side of the box score to you as well.

It’s annoying when there’s a loss, but it’s so much more so when victory was at hand.  Two excellent relief innings from Daniel Winkler and Arodyz Vizcaino… but then Jason Grilli couldn’t seal the deal.  Even so, chances were there, but fielding miscues didn’t help either.

For the Braves to have a chance this year, they will have to sew up those kinds of holes.  The defense must perform well, and the pitching must be there.  The offense will likely have enough to keep things close, but that offense needs support.  Yesterday was an example of how that support can go awry… let’s hope it isn’t a microcosm of the next 161 games.
