Atlanta Braves Fall Late In Sunday Slaughter
Sunday’s game between the Atlanta Braves and the St. Louis Cardinals started off okay. Williams Perez danced his way through first inning walks and in the bottom of the first the Braves gave him a lead when Eric Aybar singled and Nick Markakis hit the first of his three doubles on the day.
Freddie Freeman continues to struggle at the plate and pitchers seem to have figured out that Adonis Garcia will swing at sliders falling off the outside corner at the knees.
Perez continued to live dangerously with pitches in the middle of the zone being missed by eager Cardinal hitters who were frustrated at the umpire rightly calling the high strike. Eventually the walks and hittable strikes turned into runs and the Cardinals took the lead in the third.
Adam Wainwright quickly sent the Braves back out on defense with a 3 up 3 down third but Williams again managed to escape without damage.
