Atlanta Braves News: The Morning Chop, Box Score, Winning Streak Ends
By Jeff Schafer
Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: Well, it was exciting while it lasted. The Atlanta Braves had won four straight games heading into Wednesday night’s matchup against the Dodgers, but came up short of their fifth in a row as they took LA into extra innings. Both teams bullpens pitched really nicely as neither team scored after the top of the 6th inning. We stayed tied 3-3 until the top of the 10th inning when Jason Grilli allowed a single, walk, double and a walk – in that order – which plated one run. Then Alexi Ogando came into the game and quickly allowed another single to score another run (Grilli’s run). Freddie Freeman had an awful night at the plate going 0-5 with four strikeouts.

Atlanta Braves Have Issues But Plunging Stock Isn’t One of Them
Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: The Braves stock falls with losing, what do you know? Atlanta will get back on track eventually so maybe it’s a good time to invest. I would never tell you how to use your money, but I’ve always been told to buy when the stock is low so you can watch it grow.
"Yes the Atlanta Braves look awful, and tracking stocks may be a relic of Wall Street’s go-go days. But no, shareholders of Liberty Media’s baseball assets have not seen the value of their holdings halved since stock assigned to them was introduced on Monday.Much has been made of the plunge in Liberty Braves Group Class A and C tracking shares since their first trades at 9:30 a.m. Monday in New York. The A shares in particular look like lemons, entering the market at $36 and then ending the day at $19.95.Relax, say analysts, the swoon is an all-but-irrelevant byproduct of the clumsy way tracking shares find their price, and almost nobody has lost anything like 50 percent. While the stock did start the day at rarefied prices, very few people bought or sold while it was there, and the subsequent swoon was for the most part meaningless."
Braves recall Kelly, send Perez to Gwinnett
Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: In an odd move, the Braves send Perez back to Gwinnett and call up starting pitcher/relief pitcher Casey Kelly. It’s unknown who the Braves will start in replacement to Perez on Sunday. The possibilities being floated around right now are Mike Foltynewicz, Aaron Blair, Ryan Weber and maybe Kelly. When asked about the move Fredi Gonazelz told reporters that they wanted “fresh arms”.
"The Braves recalled right-hander Casey Kelly from Triple-A Gwinnett on Wednesday and sent down right-hander Williams Perez.Kelly is expected to be available in long relief. Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez said right-hander Ryan Weber probably won’t be available until Saturday after he pitched 3 1/3 innings Tuesday in relief of Perez.Kelly made six starts for the Padres in 2012 and posted a 6.21 ERA. He underwent Tommy John surgery in March 2013, made four minor-league appearances in 2014 and had a 7.04 ERA in three games (two starts) with the Padres in 2015."
