Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: Soak it in Atlanta Braves fans, the Braves have won a ball game!  On Thursday night, they did something they haven’t since April 19th against the Dodgers.  If history tells us anything, I’m thinking the Braves are going to sweep the Cubs this weekend!! Ha…Friday funnies!  The bats were awake during this cold evening and the pitching kept us in the ball game.

They’re already calling for Fredi Gonzalez’s job in Atlanta

Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: The jabs have been coming left and right for Fredi Gonzalez’s managerial role with the Atlanta Braves.  Now, even Ken Rosenthal has jumped onto the train.  In his latest Braves post, he says Gonzalez will be fired.  It’s probably a matter of time, but how long?  Will John Coppolella pull the trigger during the season?  Will he wait until after this horrendous season?  Will he give Fredi a chance with a decent roster in 2017?  So many questions!!!

"The Atlanta Braves were supposed to be bad coming into the season. That’s what happens when you trade off all your major-league assets for future considerations. It wasn’t a big secret. Everyone knew the Braves were coming into the year in a clear rebuilding phase. Thus far, the club has definitely lived up to those expectations. Through 21 games, the team is just 4-17. That’s the worst record in the majors. While it’s early, and the team probably won’t play .190 ball the rest of way, there are already some who want to see manager Fredi Gonzalez fired. Mark Bradley of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution has seen enough bad baseball this season, and thinks the Braves need to dump Gonzalez.Other than the fact that it’s incredible early in the year for a team to dismiss a manager, there’s nothing too shocking about Bradley’s opinion. The Braves were supposed to be awful, and haven’t been a good team since 2013. Managers who post three straight losing seasons don’t typically stick around. It wasn’t hard to see this coming. Even the oddsmakers had Gonzalez as the first manager to be fired this season."

Lucas Sims fans 11 in second Gwinnett start

Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: Don’t look away, these young-guns are on the way! Lucas Sims got his second start for Gwinnett on Thursday and impressed once more.  It’s only a matter of time before the Braves pull Bud Norris out of the rotation and will it with probably Mike Foltynewicz, but the next to falter could in the rotation could be Sims spot to lose.  He’s progressing quickly now that he’s fully healthy and could see Atlanta prior to the end of the season.

"After a mediocre Triple-A debut for Gwinnett on Saturday, Lucas Sims made a strong second start Thursday afternoon.Sims allowed one run in seven innings, but more impressive were the 11 strikeouts he recorded. He gave up five hits and walked two. The G-Braves won 4-3 in 15 innings at Toledo.Sims was plagued by a lack of run support this season at Double-A Mississippi, where he was 0-2 with a 1.84 ERA before his promotion to Gwinnett. That has continued somewhat at Gwinnett."

Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: The good ol’ friendly train ride. Don’t miss out on getting one of these on May 28th. If you don’t remember why this is funny… Jones and Freeman made national headlines when Chipper took his four-wheeler into a 2014 Atlanta snowstorm to rescue Freddie. He was stuck in the city’s traffic gridlock during a huge snow storm that Atlanta wasn’t prepared for.
