Atlanta Braves Morning Chop: T-Rex, Roster Rules, and Ruminations
Don’t Miss This – Teheran throws gem despite late inning miscues from bullpen that almost cost Braves the win
Seven innings. No runs. Two hits. 9 strikeouts. 1 walk. Okay, maybe against that lineup, the 9 K’s are not all that surprising, but this was a Cubs team that is second in baseball – not just the NL – in team WAR, plus second in both OBP and runs scored. They have a solid offense, and yet Julio Teheran shut them down… long enough for the Braves to muster 3 runs early and then one more late in a 4-3 victory.
The bizarre thing now is what I’m seeing all over Braves twitter now: “Can we trade him now??” Really people? Sure – anything can happen, but right now the Braves need to rally around their #1 starter. Without him right now, all we have is a bunch of rookies and Chacin (now that Bud Norris is looking for an exit). No, Julio Teheran is a keeper – at least for now – and we should all be glad that he seems to be back in form. It was a good game – a great one – from him yesterday, and certainly a needed win for the Braves.
