Atlanta Braves News: The Afternoon Chop, Box Score, SunTrust Park, Freddie Freeman A Trade Candidate?
By Jeff Schafer
Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: The Atlanta Braves just didn’t come to play Wednesday afternoon as they had a chance to win the series against the New York Mets at Citi Field. The Mets scored early and often – two runs in the 2nd inning, four runs in the 3rd inning, two more runs in the 5th inning – to win their 17th game of the season. The Braves fall to 7-20 for the 2016 season. Atlanta only had three hits on Wednesday and one was off the bat of their pitcher, Jhoulys Chacin. This was the second time already in 2016 that the Braves saw Steven Matz, but still couldn’t do much damage. The first time was on April 23rd in Atlanta – Braves got nine hits and two runs off Matz as well as struck out eight times. This time around, two hits, zero runs and eight strikeouts.
Braves lose 8-0

Curt Schilling’s Wife Rips ESPN Over Network’s Alleged Snub Of Husband
Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: It’s simple, stop talking. But it just doesn’t sound like the Schillings family can do this. Curt has lost multiple jobs because of his opinions that he throws out. This time it’s his wife. Curt’s wife sent an email to the folks at ESPN and kind of ripped them a new one. Can’t Schilling find a job to help young ball players develop how to pitch properly or something to that effect?
"Schilling claimed to be the victim of a double-standard, and his vitriol toward his former company only grew after ESPN edited him out from its “Four Days In October” documentary about the 2004 Boston Red Sox. The network claims it needed to shorten the program in the interest of time, a claim that Schilling doubts. So, too, does his wife, Shonda. In an email correspondence with the Boston Herald’s Inside Track, Shonda Schilling ripped into ESPN for its treatment of her husband and the claims the company made.“Couples who get divorced don’t usually stoop this low to get the last word in,” she said in the email to the Herald. “I know (ESPN’s) brand is to be true to Disney. That doesn’t mean you have to act like a child. I don’t remember any Disney films I ever saw that said to try to embarrass you if you want to be heard. Just one last thing, ESPN, people are not mad at what you did they are embarrassed for you.”"
Four MLB stars that must be traded in 2016
Freddie Freeman, first baseman, Atlanta Braves
Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: Braves general manager John Coppolella has said it multiple times that they will not be trading Freeman under any circumstances. This article must have not seen these comments or just chooses to look in the opposite direction. Though I would hate it if the Braves trade Freeman for anything, you have to think about the return. Atlanta will be contending again – sooner than this article says – in the next few years and need to keep Freddie.
"Like the Brewers, the Braves are going nowhere for a while. They’re probably baseball’s worst team in 2016, and quite frankly, 2017’s outlook doesn’t look much brighter. arsezaeFreeman is only 26, so there’s at least a decent chance that he’ll still be an All-Star caliber player when Atlanta is ready to compete again, but that also likely means a bigger trade haul for him.The Washington Nationals would be a good fit for Freeman, but trades within the division are rare.If that can’t happen, then teams like the Oakland Athletics, Seattle Mariners, and possibly Houston Astros could all make great use of the Atlanta first baseman."
