Braves Will Have A Decision To Make For 2017

It’s been less than a week since the Atlanta Braves made the final decision to fire Fredi Gonzalez and add Brian Snitker as the interim manager.  The Braves are currently 12-31 after their weekend series with the Philadelphia Phillies and 3-3 since Snitker took over.

At year’s end John Hart, John Coppolella and the rest of the Braves front office will have a huge decision to make.  Who will lead/manager the Braves into 2017 and beyond.

Many names have been through in the mix already as speculated who will take over…a couple intern names include Snitker, Terry Pendleton and Eddie Perez.  Outside the organization names that have popped up are Bud Black and Ron Gardenhire.

The other two names for the managerial role that keep popping up are Mark DeRosa and Chipper Jones.

Though Chipper would be a great personality for this team and inside the dugout, I don’t think the manager job is a great fit for him just yet.  This would be only the fourth year removing Chipper from the Braves and playing on the field.  He said once he retired that he wanted to enjoy retirement and step away from traveling so much.  Plus, he’s never coached before.

DeRosa also has never coached before, but many believe he could follow in the footsteps of other current managers that had no experience prior to joining the bigs…Brad Ausmus, A.J. Hinch, Mike Matheny and Robin Ventura.

On Sunday night, DeRosa’s wife posted a photo on Twitter that featured Mark, his wife and Chipper and his wife.

After seeing this, I couldn’t help but keep thinking about the Braves hiring DeRosa to be the Braves new manager for the 2017 season and DeRosa bringing in good friend Chipper Jones in some coaching capacity.

DeRosa was a 16-year utility player and spent seven years in Atlanta.  The former Brave is now a commentator for the MLB Network.

I dunno…maybe I’m looking too much into it.  Maybe it’s been a long weekend and I’m tired.  Maybe there is zero chances this happens.  Or maybe I can see the future…
