If you want to get in on the Braves’ Bobblehead of the year, you might want to check some of our tips below.

Not sure if most of you remember.

Those of us that experience it are still trying to forget it but remember Snowmagedon 2014? If you don’t let me refresh your memory.

(In my epic movie announcer voice) Plagued with 50 feet of snow, howling winds and conditions only seen on Antarctica, the city of Atlanta experience a blizzard of monumental proportions. People were trapped for days without food and water. The young cannibalized the elderly, people burned themselves just to stay warm…. IT WAS THE SNOW STORM TO END ALL SNOW STORMS!!! (annnnndddd cut).

Seriously, it wasn’t that bad. The real issue was timing.

Cities like Atlanta and other southern cities are not equipped to handle anything over a few inches of snow. Add a few more inches and you would have a problem.

The problem was multiplied when the storm hit right in the middle of rush hour. Now you have people who can barely drive in the RAIN, now panicking to get home in snow with 50-100 feet of visibility.

Roads began to ice. Bridges were super slippery and very hazardous to drive on. Now one of the busiest cities in the South was coming to a standstill as highways became parking lots. People began abandoning their cars and walked to higher ground to seek shelter.

Ironically, one of those people stuck in their cars was Atlanta Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman. Like any other person in need, a call for help goes out to the first person in their phone, usually labeled ICE (in case of emergency). Freeman being BFFL (best friends for life) with Atlanta Braves Legend Chipper Jones sent out a distress signal.

This normally wouldn’t have been an issue but Freeman and Taylor Jones (Chipper’s wife, who is smoking hot btw) took to social media to inform Braves fans everywhere that their franchise player was safe.

The event was so huge in sports and Braves country that the Braves organization used this as a marketing tool to create a commercial and evoke an official “Chipper Saves Freddie” ATV Day; commemorating the day with an official bobblehead giveaway to the fans.

This is one that you will NOT want to miss if you are a bobblehead collector. Get there early. No, get there early early early. You may want to camp out?

Points to ponder:

  • This is a Saturday game. Weekend games are usually close to capacity.
  • This is an EARLY game. Gametime is scheduled for 4:10
  • Doors/gates open 2½ hours before game time so if you are going to come early, the earliest you can walk in is a little after 1:30
  • There are only 20,000 bobbleheads to give out.
  • This is NOT the only promotion that day. This is also water safety day. Per the Braves Website:
    • In honor of May being Water Safety Awareness Month, the Atlanta Braves and Denny Neagle, former Atlanta Braves starting pitcher, invite you to join us at Water Safety Day on Saturday, May 28, to show appreciation for CPR trained lifeguards and community pool supervisors as we raise awareness for water safety. Special ticket holders will get exclusive autograph signing with Denny Neagle. To purchase Water Safety tickets go HERE.

This is not your normal giveaway so plan on being in line or coming early to avert the madness.
