Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: The Atlanta Braves starting pitcher, Williams Perez didn’t have his best performance of his career, but he kept the Braves in the ballgame.  Perez pitched six innings, giving up seven hits, one walk and two runs.  I’m not sure of the stat on this, but I’m pretty sure this hasn’t happened all season…everyone in the lineup (except Erick Aybar and pitcher Perez) got at least one hit in the game.  Braves totaled 14 hits Friday night…that is not a misprint!  Hey, Braves fans, don’t look now, but we are only 15 games behind the first place New York Mets!  The Braves can still catch them!

Braves WIN 4-2

Miami Marlins implode late, fall to lowly Atlanta Braves 4-2

Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: LOL, the first line of the Miami Herald this morning…the Braves a playoff contender?  Well, if we keep playing the Miami Marlins we would be.  The Braves are now 4-0 against the Marlins in 2016 after Atlanta swept them earlier this year at their house.  Atlanta now improves to 3-20 at Turner Field and 13-34 for the 2016 season.

"The Marlins are making the worst team in the National League look like a playoff contender. The bumbling Atlanta Braves humbled them 4-2 on Friday night and have now won all four games this season between the teams.“They’ve won four games so far,” said Marlins reliever David Phelps, who took the loss but was victimized by the poor fielding behind him in the pivotal eighth inning. “We play them 14 more times this year. I don’t think an 0-4 start against them is going to be the end of the world for us.”"

"“There was a lot of talk about their record, and their record at home,” Phelps said. “But guys are in the big leagues for a reason. You can’t take anyone lightly, and it’s not a bad ball club.”"

Braves recall RHP Aaron Blair; will start Saturday

Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: The Atlanta Braves announced after Friday night’s game that Aaron Blair will be the starting pitcher on Saturday against the Marlins.  Since being sent to the minors, Blair has only started one game for the Gwinnett Braves on May 21st.  He lasted three innings, gave up four hits, three walks and one run…he also had four strikeouts.  Not the day you’d hope from him against the Charlotte Knights (Chicago White Sox Triple-A affiliate).  I really think Blair will emerge into something great for the Braves, but he still needs some conditioning.  Hopefully continuous call-ups and send downs don’t slow him down.

"The Atlanta Braves will recall right-handed pitcher Aaron Blair from Triple-A Gwinnett, with the 24-year-old scheduled to earn the Saturday start versus the Miami Marlins, according to David O’Brien of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.Blair was optioned back down to Gwinnett on May 18, a day after the righty served up nine runs on as many hits in just 1.1 innings versus the Pittsburgh Pirates.“We sent Aaron back, and I told him, it’s not a bad thing,” Braves interim manager Brian Snitker told the Constitution upon Blair’s demotion. “There’s a lot of guys who go back and then when they come back they’re more prepared for what they’re going to be in for. Because I really like him a lot.”"
