Atlanta Braves 2016 Draft Live Thread
The 2016 MLB Draft is about to start and I’ll be posting the picks as they are made. Earlier today I wrote about the history of the Braves Drafts and a little but about the latest rumors.
Alan had a live rumors thread up all day with the hottest twitter gossip.
Tonight we see how wrong we were and where the team’s strategy seems to be headed. I look forward to discussing (and cussing ??) their picks as they happen.
MLB Trade Rumors posted the following tidbits this afternoon.
- They confirmed that multiple sources say the Braves might sign Ian Anderson at No. 3 to save money for later signings
- ESPN’s Keith Law said he’d heard that this morning’s final mock draft
- Eric Longenhagen oF ESPN and Fangraphs tweeted that the Braves are doing it to grab presumptive No. 1 Jason Groome at No. 40.
- Frankie Piliere D1 tweeted earlier that he’s dropping because he’s expensive and that makes the Braves a possibility
Their post goes on to say that he wants about $4M and is prepared not to sign after changing his commit to a junior college instead of Vanderbilt. Sounds like a replay of the J.D. Drew play and a bit greedy. For my money he can wait.
