Atlanta Braves Have No Answer For Jake Arrieta
It wasn’t even a fair fight. On a sunny Saturday in Atlanta the Cubs took revenge for Friday night’s loss behind the pitching of Jake Arrieta. Arrieta was always in control holding the Braves to three hits while recording two himself. Matt Wisler struggled against one of baseball’s most prolific lineups and lasted just four innings
Wisler’s Four
After getting Dexter Fowler to pop out behind third, Wisler’s third pitch to Jason Heyward found it’s way 10 rows back in the right field seats to put the Cubs ahead.
In he bottom of the third a single from Addison Russell, a bunt hit into no man’s land between the mound and first by Arrieta and a wild pitch put runners at second and third with no one out.
Wisler coaxed a soft ground ball to the right side from Fowler for the first out and the runners held and second and third.

Wisler settled down to strike out Heyward and squeeze a popup from Kris Bryant to escape without a run scoring.
Anthony Rizzo hit the first pitch of the fourth inning deep into the right center field seats for the Cubs second run. Ben Zobrist followed that with a single as did Chris Coghlan and Miguel Montero brought them home with his third homer of the year.
In the bottom half of the fourth Nick Markakis dumped a one out down the left field line and Adonis Garcia singled to score him. After A.J Pierzynski struck out, Jace Peterson walked putting runners on first and second, Brandon Snyder was sent in to hit for Wisler but grounded out to end the inning.
Wisler finished having pitched four innings throwing 104 pitches – 60 strikes and 44 balls – to 19 hitters. He gave up seven hits and five runs – all earned – including three home runs and struck out two without a walk.
