A Newsworthy Day From Atlanta, Are You Caught Up?

What seemed to start as just a normal Thursday, the Braves seemed to be in the news a lot.  From minors, to majors, to draft picks, to legends, let’s go through everything from today.

Let’s start with the legend Hank Aaron.  He will be at Turner Field tomorrow night to tear down the #44 on the left field wall. Go check out a game for cheap and see the great Hammerin’ Hank!

The Braves selected Corbin Clouse in the 27th round of the 2016 MLB Draft out of Davenport University. Last year he went 5-0 with a team-best 1.62 ERA, had 75 strikeouts and 25 walks over his 50 innings pitched. He’s already reporting to the Danville Braves.

Gordon Beckham is on his way back to Atlanta! He’s been sidelined because of a lingering hamstring injury, but he’s expected to begin a rehab assignment within the next few days. He could be back before the start of July.

–Mike Foltynewicz is also on his way back to Atlanta! He will make a rehab start with the Gwinnett Braves this weekend. He’ll try to go five innings on Saturday Braves manager Brian Snitker said before Thursday night’s game. I’m guessing he’ll probably get two starts at Gwinnett prior to the All-Star break and if he pitches well, he’ll be back in the Braves rotation then.

–Mallex Smith is no where close to returning. He’s wearing a cast in the dugout tonight, but seems to be in good spirits. He spoke with the media prior to the game tonight.

A few Minor League moves today from the Braves. Joseph Odom and Joey Meneses were promoted to the Mississippi Braves. Also, newly signed Isaias Tejeda has reported to the Carolina Mudcats

NBA Draft has a tie to Cobb County. Jaylen Brown, a Cobb County native was selected by the Boston Celtics with the #3 pick in the 2016 NBA Draft. He’s a 6’7″ 225 pound small forward from the University of California. Hawks have the 21st pick…no I’m not watching and no I won’t update this.

Did you know Chase d’Arnaud is in a band? If you weren’t aware, his band played at Bonnaroo and has an album coming out in July. If you’re curious what the band is called – it’s The Chase d’Arnaud Band!

JB Moss signed with the Braves after a little confusion of his bonus deal and he’s on the way to the field!

After his first inning pitched in the MLB and only giving up one hit, Tyrell Jenkins shared his thoughts on twitter
