Atlanta Braves News: The Afternoon Chop, Box Score, Watch Joey Wentz Throw Bullpen
By Jeff Schafer
Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: Atlanta Braves starter Aaron Blair got rocked again on Friday night. This time, the Mets didn’t get to him until a little later in the game (4th and 5th innings they scored three runs in each inning). Blair had two really solid innings in the 1st and 3rd innings when he was able to get three up and three down. What seemed to be constant jab in the side on Friday was allowing the leadoff guy to get on base. In the 2nd, and 4th inning he allowed a leadoff single and in the 5th inning it was a walk…all three scored. The offense continued to swing the bats well as they had 11 hits on Friday.
Braves lose 8-6

REPORT: RED SOX HAVE INQUIRED ABOUT TRADES FOR BRAVES’ PITCHERS
Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: The Julio Teheran name has been on the tip of everyone’s tongue when talking about MLB trades. For Braves fans, I’m not sure why we’re still talking about this unless Mike Trout is involved in the deal. Teheran is starting to become the pitcher we’ve all been waiting on so why would we trade him? At some point, we’ve got to start keeping the players we think will take us to the promise land. Teheran is and will still continue to be our top pitcher in the Braves rotation. Say NO to trading JULIO!!
"While the Red Sox have inquired about both Julio Teheran and Arodys Vizcaino from the Atlanta Braves, ESPN’s Jim Bowdenreported, although Braves GM John Coppolella said he doesn’t see them trading Teheran. On MLB Network Radio, Bowden, a former major league GM, said Atlanta is interested Red Sox top prospects Yoan Moncada and Andrew Benintendi, who naturally Boston would be very reluctant to part with.Teheran, a right-handed starter, is 3-7 but with a 2.66 ERA and Vizcaino, a right-handed reliever, is 1-2 with a 2.01 ERA and 44 strikeouts in 31 1/3 innings for the Braves, who are in last place in the National League East."
Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: Thanks to Jeff Morris (@_Jeff_Morris) we get to see Joey Wentz, the Braves 40th overall selection down in Florida before the Braves Gulf Coast game. Kyle Muller, Atlanta’s left-handed pitcher that they selected with the 44th pick, is beside Wentz in the picture below. They both threw bullpens today.
