Atlanta Braves Morning Chop, Box Score, Ian Anderson Talks To Media, Josh Anthony Saga
By Jeff Schafer
Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: The Atlanta Braves are playing solid baseball the past week and a half. Believe this or not, but the Braves are one of the hottest teams in the NL right now with a 7-3 record in their past 10 games. Atlanta splits the series with the Mets after a 5-2 victory on Sunday afternoon. Adonis Garcia had a heck of a game defensively with a few nice catches in foul territory and he blasted a three run home run in the bottom of the 8th inning that put the Braves up 5-0 . For a full recap, see Fred’s post from last night. The Braves win in the hit category again against the Mets as they had 10 hits compared to the Mets seven…I realize this doesn’t do anything, but it does show you the Braves keep swinging and making solid contact. Hell, I would much rather watch a 10 hit ball game and a loss then a four hit game and a win. Good signs are head of us Braves fans, just continue to be patient.
Braves win 5-2

Atlanta Braves revoke offer to Auburn signee Josh Anthony
Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: The Braves 16th round pick, junior college All-American out of Western Oklahoma State, Josh Anthony had quite the saga with the organization this past week. The Braves drafted him with the 469th pick, in hopes of signing him with extra money they had in the bonus pool. With a couple miscalculations on the Braves part, Anthony is now officially on his way to the SEC to play with Auburn next season. We’ll have more on this story later today or tomorrow.
"In a week where he’s informed the Auburn coaching staff that he’s coming to school and then, less than 24 hours later, said he’s accepting a contract offer with Atlanta, Anthony has reversed his decision again and will enroll at Auburn.Anthony said once again Friday evening on Twitter that he will enroll at Auburn on Aug. 16 to play the 2017 season at Plainsman Park.“I’ll be going to the SEC for a year,” Anthony said on Twitter on Friday night in response to a Braves fan."
Anderson on signing with Braves
Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: The Atlanta Braves signed their first pick (3rd overall) in the 2016 MLB draft on Friday with a $4M signing bonus. If you haven’t read Alan’s report about Anderson and where the Braves sit financially, check it out here. The right-hander from Shenendehowa High School in New York headed to Florida today to start his career with the Braves. He will start at the Gulf Coast League and will most likely throw a couple bullpens in front of coaches before throwing in a game.
