Braves manage to pull off a win despite another bullpen lapse.

We were behind.  We came back.  We took the lead.  We blew the lead.  We eked out a run in extra innings.  We held on for victory.

That’s the quickie recap from last night, a game in which Tyrell Jenkins deserved a better fate, but still acquitted himself well once getting through a rough first inning.

Jenkins walked 4 in the 6 inning outing – 2 of those in the first.  He also scattered 4 hits, 1 of those being a 2-run homer to Jay Bruce.

Thanks to a Gordon Beckham 2-run homer of his own, Jenkins was in line for the victory until a 9th inning in which Jim Johnson simply didn’t have anything to offer.  4 hits and 2 earned runs tied the game.  Hunter Cervenka came in to rescue him, and did so in an odd manner – picking off speedster Billy Hamilton.

In the 11th, singles from Nick Markakis and Jeff Francoeur set the Braves up.  Ender Inciarte hit a long sacrifice fly to score the winning run from third.  Frenchy got himself thrown out at second base on the play, but Mauricio Cabrera managed to make the extra tally hold up.  He threw 1-2/3rds innings for the win.

Day baseball today!
