Atlanta Braves Turn Back the Clock to 1968-1971 Era

Today is Turn Back the Clock Day in Major League Baseball, and the Atlanta Braves will be 1 of 8 teams turning the clock back, WAY back.

Paul Lukas, noted uniform aficionado, wrote today that eight teams would be partaking in the festivities. In the article, the Braves were not listed as being one of the eight, but in his defense, he did assume as much, since the Reds would be wearing throwbacks as well.

However, social media (Twitter) always seems to save the day. In a tweet from UniWatch weekend editor, Phil Hecken, the question about what the Braves would be wearing was answered.

Atlanta will be turning it back to the 1968-1971 era. Illustrations from SportsLogos.net shows when the uniforms were worn.

Here is what the uniform tops will look like today:

I’ve always been a huge fan of this look. Very simple, yet elegant. The dark navy lettering is a great setting on the gray.

And hopefully, in keeping with the era, there will be no names on the backs of the jersey’s worn by the players.

Yep, no names. Man those look awesome!

Even as I write this, it has been conformed by Chris Creamer of SportsLogos.net, that the 8 teams (4 games) for today are: Rangers/Angels, Giants/RedSox, Mets/Cubs, and of course, Braves/Reds.

Next: Morning ... Therapy?

If you’re a fan of old, classic baseball uniforms, you don’t want to miss today’s throwback games.

Enjoy the nostalgia, and enjoy the games, and most importantly, let’s hopefully enjoy a Braves throwback win!
