Yesterday, Atlanta Braves GM John Coppolella struck a deal with the Rangers’ GM Jon Daniel that sent Lucas Harrell and Dario Alvarez to Texas for first-round draft pick, Travis Demeritte.

Harrell piched in Korea last year and Alvarez was fired by the Mets on May 23rd. So, it looks to be yet another “What kind of dirt does Coppy have on these guys?” sort of move.

Travis Demeritte is a legitimate power hitting infielder who is still developing. While he does have a high K rate, he seems to actually hit for average, gets hits, and of course the much needed home run. Plus, he’s from Georgia.

Most Braves fans seem to be ecstatic about the deal, but a few are wondering if Demeritte’s slugging will translate to lower elevations. Two things – He’s leading his league in home runs (by a lot) and he hit 25 bombs for the Hickory Crawdads two years ago (elevation 901 feet).

That said, I submit to you some of my favorite angry Rangers fans’ tweets after the trade was made. We here in Braves Country like the Texas Rangers and certainly harbor no ill will towards them or the great state of Texas. Heck, me and Nolan Ryan share the same birthday. But given our current season, please let us gloat in this moment.

There you go. Welcome back home, Travis.
