Braves Struggle In Game 4

The Atlanta Braves went into Thursday’s afternoon game with a 2-1 lead in this four-game series with the Milwaukee Brewers.  Atlanta won the first two games of this series, but then eventually lost the final two.  Brewers offense was pouring on Thursday as they scored in every single inning…ugh, I hated typing that.

One interesting stat that I saw on social media after the game…the Brewers became just the 16th team in the history of the MLB to score in every inning.  Wow, glad we’re on the opposite side of that statistic!

Milwaukee Brewers (now 51-62) beat the Atlanta Braves 11-3 at Miller Park.  These two teams won’t face each other again until 2017.  Maybe they can come get stomped at the new SunTrust Ball Park in a few months.

Someone Stop The Bleeding!

This game was ugly from the start…Chris Carter started things off for the Brewers in the 1st inning as he blasted a two-run homer off Braves starter Roberto Hernandez.  In just his second MLB start of 2016, Hernandez surrendered seven hits and five runs in just four innings on Thursday.

More from Tomahawk Take

In the 5th inning, Brandon Cunniff came into the game for the Braves.  He last 1.1 innings, gave up three hits, four runs (three earned runs), three walks and had a crucial throwing error on a pickoff.

Madison Younginer then came into the game and went 1.2 innings, giving up three hits, one run and a walk.  He was probably the most impressive Braves pitcher today.  Though he did allow a double to Manny Pina in the 6th inning and then a walk to the next hitter.

Good ol’ Eric O’Flaherty pitched in the 8th for the Braves.  He gave up a leadoff walk and then a triple to Orlando Arcia.  Why not on this day, right?

All in all, the Brewers totaled 11 runs, had14 hits and five walks.

Any Braves Offense?

Well, yes…they were out there and batted all nine innings, but weren’t able to keep pace with the Brewers.  The offense did total nine hits — including three by everyone’s favorite player Erick Aybar — and three runs.

Aybar had a homer in the 6th inning off Brewers started Matt Garza.

Speaking of Matt Garza…he has a history of being awful at fielding his position.  Meaning the Braves should have at least tried to bunt, right?  Nope, never tried today.  I heard on the Braves radio Don Sutton and jim Powell talking about this and how they heard a rumor that the Braves didn’t want to embarrass him on the field??  This can’t be true, can it?

Don’t we play to win the game?  I sure do in everything I play.  If this is a weakness, why wouldn’t the Brave attack it?  Maybe they know something we don’t.  Maybe Garza got better at this and we didn’t want to test his newly acquired “skill”.

Remember this?  Oh, look who he was facing at the time…

Guess we can’t talk too much smack, he and the Brewers just embarrassed us on the scoreboard.  Oh well, the Braves have been hot and hope to continue saying that way when we face the Washington Nationals this weekend.
