Atlanta Braves Fall To Nationals 9-1

On a hot Sunday afternoon in D.C. the Atlanta Braves could muster only one run of Tanner Roark  and lost the final game of the series, 9-1.

Shaky First

The first started with promise for the Braves as Ender Inciarte singled and with one out Freddie Freeman singled him to third. With runners on the corners Matt Kemp topped a soft ground ball about 30 feet in front of the plate and for reasons known only to him, Inciarte was running on contact and tagged out 20 feet at the plate. The Nationals didn’t make that kind of error in the home half or in rest of the game.

Trea Turner led off for the Nationals with a double off Braves starter Tyrell Jenkins. Ben Revere followed that with a useful sacrifice bunt but Anthony Recker threw wildly allowing Turner to score and Revere to go to second.

Back in the lineup for the first time in a nearly a week, Bryce Harper doubled to left scoring Revere.  Harper moved to third on an infield out and scored on a sacrifice fly by Anthony Rendon

Jenkins finally got out of the inning after throwing 27 pitches.

Signs of Life

After a quiet second Inciarte led off the Braves third with a hustle double finished perfect slide. Roark attempted to pick him off and the replay looked like he had done it. However the umpire called him safe and that call was upheld on replay allowing Erick Aybar to drive him in with a single

Freeman followed that by hitting into an inning ending double play but the Braves were on the board down 3-1.
