Yes – old friend Ervin Santana can still pitch, keeping Atlanta off-balance for seven full innings as the Twins took the first of this mini-series at Turner Field, 4-2.

Joel De La Cruz and a cast of several relievers (six) tried valiantly, but couldn’t shutout the Twins, which is practically what was required last night.

The offense managed to get Santana up over 100 pitches, that’s what got him out of the game – certainly it wasn’t his pitching.  Chase d’Arnaud got himself whacked by a pitch to start the Braves’ 8th inning rally, then Freeman, Kemp, and Markakis followed with a sequence that pushed 2 runs across… nearly 4 as Adonis Garcia just missed putting one in the seats to end the frame.

But that was essentially the game.  Atlanta never took the lead and the Twins added on against a wildish Mauricio Cabrera.

Here’s your box.
