Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: There’s no much sweeter than a 9:45pm ET start time game that goes into extra innings!  The Atlanta Braves took on the Arizona Diamondbacks at Chase Field on Wednesday evening/Thursday morning.  You most likely saw the struggles from starting pitcher Julio Teheran — gave up 11 hits, six runs and two homers.  This was only his second start from returning from the DL so maybe he just needs to get some rust off.  Ian Krol came into the game in the 7th inning, but the DBacks unloaded on him.  Only getting one out, gave up four hits and three runs.  For a full recap, check out Colby’s here.

Braves will attend Tim Tebow tryout

Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: Does it hurt to fly out to LA to watch Tim Tebow tryout?  Not unless you’re in the accounting department and have to ask the question of ‘why am I seeing a flight to LA, expensive meals and an over prized hotel on this expense report??’  MLB teams probably have money to throw anywhere they choose so why not go see what this 29-year-old can do.  He’s got the heart of a lion and he hopes someone will tell him he can’t do something.  One of these 20 MLB teams that are going out to LA to watch him will give Tebow a contract.

"Twenty major league teams will reportedly scout former NFL quarterback Tim Tebow during his tryout next week in Los Angeles. The Atlanta Braves have confirmed they will be among the teams in attendance. Would he be a good fit for Braves? It was first reported a few weeks ago that Tebow, who hasn’t played organized baseball since his junior year in high school, was pursuing a career as a baseball player. Almost immediately he received a contract offer from an Independent League team in Illinois."

Rhode Island College’s Matt Foley Drafted by Miami Marlins

Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: Atlanta’s GM John Coppolella pulled off another trade on Wednesday as he sent Jeff Francoeur and cash to the Marlins for utility-man Dylan Moore and catcher Matt Foley.  Foley is a 22-year-old from Rhode Island College.  Below is an article about his senior season at RI.  The 6’4″ 230 pounder was currently playing for low Single-A Batavia.  He must have had an injury this season as he’s only played in 14 games in 2016.  Moore looks to be the man in this trade as he can play many different positions…and you know how the Braves love their utility-men.

"Rhode Island College junior catcher Matt Foley (Seekonk, MA) was selected in the 40th Round (1,196 overall) by the Miami Marlins in the 2015 Major League Baseball Draft. He was named a First Team All-American by both the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Rawlings and D3Baseball.com this past season. Foley was named First Team All-New England by the New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA), D3Baseball.com and the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Rawlings. He was a First Team All-Little East and team MVP selection as well. Foley won the triple crown for the Little East, leading the league in batting average (.453), RBI (45) and home runs (11). He played in 34 games, starting all of them. He batted .453 (53-for-117), with 43 runs scored, 53 hits, 10 doubles, three triples, 11 home runs and 45 RBI. He registered a .872 slugging percentage, a .515 on-base percentage and a .988 fielding percentage."

Freddie Freeman and his wife Chelsea Freeman are on baby watch!  The Freeman’s are already nine months pregnant and should be expecting very soon.  We’ll most likely see Freddie miss a few ball games because of being a new father as this is his first child.
