Atlanta Braves Pen Collapses They Fall To Bumgarner–Giants

A promising first inning and a brief offensive outburst in the sixth were all the Atlanta Braves could muster against Madison Bumgarner and as the Giants pummeled them 13-4.

Bright Beginnings

Ender Inciarte opened the Braves first by scorching a triple into the left-center field gap and Adonis Garcia worked a walk from the Giant’s ace after an eight pitch at bat.

After Freddie Freeman struck out Matt Kemp lifted a sacrifice fly to medium right field scoring Inciarte. Garcia advanced to second when the throw was offline by Nick Markakis grounded out to end the inning and that was the last offense the Braves would mount until the sixth.

In between Bumgarner cruised while the Giants treated Braves starter Aaron Blair rudely.

Blair started well enough moving quickly through the first but things went downhill from there.

More from Tomahawk Take

Brandon Belt started the home second with leadoff standup triple and scored when Jarret Parker hit a dribbler down the first base line. Joe Panik followed that with a big fly into the right field seats to put the Giants up 2-1.

Denard Span lead off the third with a standup double and Blair hit Buster Posey with one out but managed to escape with further damage but even the outs were hit hard.

More Panik

Parker lead off the home fourth with a single and Balir’s nemesis Panik followed that with a two run shot to increase their lead to 4-1.

Eduardo Nunez followed that with an infield hit but was thrown out a second trying to advance when the ball bounced away from the catcher. He should have stayed put as Span hit a homer in nearly the same spot as Panik’s homer putting the Giants up 5-1
