Clemens no match for Wisler as Padres fall again
Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: The Braves came into Wednesday night’s game with a game plan…score more runs than the Padres (haha). Not only did that plan work out, but also Braves starter Matt Wisler came out to play. In his second game back in Atlanta, after about a month stint with the Gwinnett Braves, Wisler came out firing once again. He threw six innings, gave up four hits, one run, three walks and had 10 strikeouts. Do remember these last two great starts for Wisler were against the Padres and Diamondbacks. His next two out of three starts will be against the Washington Nationals.
"The Padres, who’ve lost their entire opening-day rotation to either trade or injury, dropped an 8-1 decision to another last-place team, the Atlanta Braves. The defeat came after right-hander Paul Clemens recorded only nine outs in an erratic appearance. On the other side, former Padres prospect Matt Wisler fanned batter after batter.Wisler, who’s had an up-and-down sophomore season, went six innings. He allowed four hits and three walks. The strikeouts piled up. He might have gone longer had he not already thrown 110 pitches. As recently as two springs ago, Wisler was the Padres’ top pitching prospect. On the eve of the 2015 season, the Padres sent him to the Braves in a blockbuster that brought back Craig Kimbrel and Melvin Upton Jr."
Braves raise awareness for childhood cancer as part of league-wide effort
Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: The Braves may not be winning on the field this season, but they always win off of it. This great effort to raise awareness of childhood cancer will be in the month of September. Prior to the game against the Mets on September 10th, Braves wives will present four children with the Diamond of Courage Award, and those four children will also be recognized in a pregame on-field presentation. There’s a good chance we don’t see Freddie Freeman’s wife at this event as she’s already nine months pregnant, but she’s usually always at these. Freddie however is getting crafty with some “daddy duties”
"The Atlanta Braves will join Major League Baseball and all MLB Clubs in a league-wide effort to raise childhood cancer awareness by dedicating a special day at Turner Field on September 10.This is a continuation of the inaugural “Childhood Cancer Awareness Day,” which Major League Baseball is launching on Friday, September 2.The Atlanta Braves will honor children and families who are currently fighting or have courageously battled pediatric cancer with a pregame reception before the September 10 matchup with the New York Mets."
