Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: The Atlanta Braves took down the lowly San Diego Padres on Thursday.  Look now, because the Braves are one of the hottest teams in the NL in the past 10 games.  They are 6-4 in the last 10 only behind the New York Mets (7-3) and the Chicago Cubs (8-2).  After the three-game sweep of the Padres — yes, the first sweep at Turner Field in 2016 and very well could be the final sweep ever at Turner — the Braves improved to 51-83 on the season.  Atlanta is very quickly creeping up to other bad teams in the MLB.  For how bad they’ve looked this season, it’s very possible we don’t walk away with the 1st pick in 2017 and maybe not even a top 5 if they keep playing like they are.

Atlanta Braves complete first home sweep behind Mike Foltynewicz

Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: Not going to lie, this weekday series with the San Diego Padres was fun to watch.  The Braves offense swung the bats extremely well and the pitching was close to lights out at times.  Ender Inciarte continues his consecutive game hitting streak as he’s now at 12-games.  With him swinging a hot bat right now at the top of the order and you’ve got Adonis Garcia who reached base all four times yesterday — two hits, a walk and a hit batter — and then Freddie Freeman, Matt Kemp and Nick Markakis…I think we’ve got something cooking.  With how bad this team has looked in 2016, they are on the verge of not even finishing in the bottom five when the season is said and done.

"It took until September, but the Atlanta Braves finally have a series sweep at home this season.Mike Foltynewicz won his fourth straight decision and Freddie Freeman homered in a three-RBI game as the Braves defeated the San Diego Padres 9-6 on Thursday. The Braves outscored San Diego 24-10 in the three-game series to sweep the Padres for the first time since 2008 and the revived offense has scored at least seven runs in each of the team’s past five home games.“Obviously we’re not having the season we wanted to, but we’re trying to end strong,” said Freeman, who has a career-best 28 homers. “We’ve been playing better baseball the last couple of months. We welcome those sweeps.”"

Former first-rounder Jed Bradley joins Braves as rosters expand

Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: Hometown boy, went to Georgia Tech, Jed Bradley is now with the Atlanta Braves!  In 2011, the Milwaukee Brewers selected him with one of their two first-round picks, 15th overall.  He’s worked his way up bouncing back and forth between the bullpen and the starting rotation.  In a quiet move that many don’t remember, John Coppolella made a trade with the Brewers in early June for cash or a player to be named later.  Not a bad move by Coppy as Jed is now wearing the Atlanta jersey!

"After 158 consecutive games of running out right-handed starters, the Atlanta Braves made a personnel move to potentially end the streak. As a part of the organization’s September additions, newly acquired pitching prospect Jed Bradley, a Georgia Tech product, received his first major-league promotion. The team plans to utilize Bradley out of the bullpen over the weekend, potentially replacing Joel De La Cruz in the rotation next week.“It was pretty special driving in today,” Bradley told reporters after arriving at Turner Field on Thursday morning."
