Chipper Has Embarrassing Moment, But Comes Through

For 19 years — some longer — we watched Chipper Jones play the great game of baseball and wear that Atlanta Braves jersey.  19 years!  Man, what a ride it was.

Night in and night out we all would tune in and watch every moment of Chipper’s life for a solid three to four hours.  Within that time we saw some fumbles, some falls, some laughs, and some tears.  Some moments along the way may have been embarrassing for ol’ Chip, but recently he reached a new high.

What happened to Chipper may have been embarrassing to him, but it turned into a pretty cool moment for someone else.

So here’s what went down from the details I gathered.  Chipper took his six-year old son to dinner at Cheeky.  If you don’t know what Cheeky is, you may have never been in the state of Georgia before.  The food is outstanding and the drinks are top notch.  It’s mostly a bar-food type place with a pretty cool environment.  Oh, and they’re very public about buying their food local…which is very cool.

Back to the story…Chipper and his son order dinner, eat and then all of the sudden he checks on his wallet.  Which wasn’t there.

Personally, I’ve never done that before, but the feeling that you have when you can’t find/lose your wallet is one of the worse feelings.  Can’t imagine what his thoughts were after he finished dinner and didn’t have it.

After some explaining to the waitstaff, Jones left the restaurant.

He returned to the establishment the following day and took care of the bill — and an extra little side thank you to the waitress.

Not only was the waitress “taken care of”, she also go a direct tweet by Chipper himself and a story that she or Chipper will probably ever forget.

Here’s how the story played out on twitter…

Chipper blames his age, but he’s only 44-years-old.  Ha, I’m not going to lie, I blame my age on a lot of things as well.  Can you believe this will be the fifth year already without having Chipper in a Braves uniform?  Man, time does fly.

I haven’t seen any news on whether or not Chipper will be attending the Braves Spring Training facility in 2017.  I’m just speculating here, but I would think he would be at some point.

I believe Jones is still serving as the Braves special assistant to the baseball operations department.  We’ve got plenty of young folks he can help out!  Plus, it would be great to see him at the park again.
