Atlanta Braves Claim OF Christian Walker Off Waivers From Baltimore
As the first game action of the 2017 spring training schedule gets started, the Atlanta Braves front office isn’t taking time to soak up the Florida sunshine. The club has picked up another outfielder off the waiver wire.
The Braves claimed 25-year-old first baseman and outfielder Christian Walker off waivers from the Orioles, the team announced on Saturday.
Walker played his collegiate ball at the University of South Carolina from 2010 through the 2012 NCAA season, before being taken by Baltimore in the fourth round (132 overall) of the 2012 MLB Draft.
A native of Pennsylvania, Walker was a highly touted prep player at Kennedy-Kenrick Catholic High School in Norristown, and was also drafted by the Dodgers in the 49th round of the MLB Draft in 2009, but chose to attend USC.
