Braves Adding Albies To Roster For Tuesday?

Is it time for the Atlanta Braves to call up Ozzie Albies?  Most likely.  Do the Braves need a spark in the lineup?  Absolutely.  Did Albies hint on social media that it was actually happening?  Possibly.

The 20-year-old is slashing .282/.312/.436 for the Gwinnett Braves with two triples, seven doubles, seven RBIs, 12 runs and seven stolen bases.

Before we get any further, I’m not here to start a huge rumor about the Braves calling up Albies.  That’s not my intent.

Okay, so here’s where we stand.  Sunday afternoon while watching a movie with the wife, I was scrolling through Instagram and notice Albies posted on his story.  I clicked on the story to watch it and noticed a few intriguing photos.

The first “story” was a video of his breakfast…that’s not the important one.

The next was a photo of a few cleats, shoes and a Braves bag.  His caption “Love for the game”.  Okay, cool.

The last photo was of him in what looks like an Uber that reads New York, New York.  Hmm, Albies is in New York?  How come?

I proceeded to check the scores of the Braves minor league teams.  Gwinnett’s game was rained out today.  Well, that explains why he’s not on the ball field.  But the game was supposed to be in Gwinnett.

So the games canceled, maybe he decided to travel to where they’re playing next.  The Gwinnett Braves play in Rochester, New York on Tuesday.  Ahh, that’s probably it, but wait…Rochester is way up north in NY and fairly close to Buffalo.  Extremely far away from the city.

I started to think about where the Braves were playing next…they’re playing in New York against the Mets starting on Tuesday.

Hmm okay…so going back to the photos…he’s got a photo of a Braves bag and it looks like he’s packing up.  Then a photo in New York city where the Atlanta Braves will be playing next.

Did the Braves just call up Ozzie Albies?!?

Now I could be completely wrong here.  Albies could have just decided to head to NY for a little visit since they have an off day tomorrow.  Maybe he has friends there or a girl…who knows.

But maybe I’m right…

Ha, well whatever the case, Albies in the Atlanta Braves roster should happen at some point this season.  The biggest question though is where will he play.  Brandon Phillips has been hot at the plate

The biggest question is where will he play once he arrives

Second base? Brandon Phillips has been hot at the plate.  You can’t remove him from the lineup.  Dansby Swanson hasn’t hit anything in 2017, but you can’t bench your superstar 17 games into the season.  Can you?

Albies has never played third base before.  Neither has Phillips.

Next: Two Potential Problems for the Braves at STP

Albies isn’t the type of player we want to platoon.  He’s going to be a star for Atlanta and needs to be in the lineup every day.

Did Braves GM John Coppolella make a trade?

We’ll see how this plays out.

UPDATE: Bowman crushes are hopes

Braves beat writer Mark Bowman just stepped on and smashed any ideas of Albies joining the Braves next week.
