Our Atlanta Braves found their bats tonight in Milwaukee. And BOY, did they find them. It was a merry-go-round night at Miller Park for the Bravos.

Where to begin? How about 2008. Why 2008? Well, Some guy named Mark Teixeira put three Rawlings baseballs over the wall in the same night. He was the last Atlanta Brave to hit 3 homer runs in a game.

WAS.

Matt Kemp (“the best power-hitting outfielder in the National League”) launched three shots this night in Milwaukee.

76. 11. 17. Final. 3

Matt Kemp (the best power-hitting outfielder in the National League) launched three shots this 29th day of April 2017.  With Kemp’s three homers, not only was it his first ever 3-homer game, he collected five RBI’s.

But it wasn’t all just Matt Kemp. Every Braves starter, except Brandon Phillips and Jaime Garcia, had a multi-hit game. Yes, even struggling rookie Dansby Swanson had a 2 for 4 night, including his 2nd home run of the year.

Speaking of Garcia, his night was overshadowed by the offensive outburst. Garcia surrendered just 3 hits over 6 IP. The only downside to tonight, probably for me, would be Garcia’s 5 walks to his 3 strikeouts. He allowed 2 earned runs as well.

But the real story tonight was the offense. 20 hits came off the bats of this Braves club. Freddie Freeman had 3, Kemp had 3, Nick Markakis had 3, and Tyler Flowers had 4, count’em, 4 hits. T-Flow is now hitting at .391 on the year.

Positive signs were plenty tonight. Dansby recorded his first multi-hit game of the year. It’s no secret Swanson has struggled lately. So much, in fact, it’s had some in Braves Country suggesting Dansby be sent back down to AAA.

Over the last few games, Swanson has been looking better. Tonight, it appeared his slumping start is behind him. His timing was better, he was going with pitches, and he was hitting line drives that weren’t right at someone; like his line drive home run that tucked just inside the left field foul pole.

But if that isn’t enough, this offense has really turned things around.

With the 11-3 drubbing of the Brewers, the Braves have a chance to sweep the Brew Crew and get within one game of .500, again.

Tomorrow afternoon, first pitch is scheduled for 2:10 Central, 1:10 EDT. On the mound for the Braves will be Mike Foltynewicz (0-2, 3.20), who will go for his first win of the season. Hopefully, the Braves saved some runs for tomorrow.

Next: Braves Morning Chop

Atlanta will face Matt Garza. Garza is 0-0 with a 2.25 ERA.

Tonight was fun. Enjoy the ‘W’. Then, stick it to the Brewers one more time! Go Braves!
