Atlanta Braves News: The Morning Chop, Box Score, Matt Wisler Optioned To Gwinnett
By Jeff Schafer
Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: The Atlanta Braves lost game three of this four-game series to the New York Mets on Wednesday evening. It was close until that frightening 8th inning display the Mets put on us. The Braves were able to get runners on base — had runners on base the 2nd inning through the 5th inning — but just couldn’t get the big hits when they needed them.
Atlanta’s offense wasn’t too bad as they had nine hits, five walks and scored five runs, but it wasn’t enough for this somehow red hot Mets lineup. This game sucked from the beginning (Michael Conforto’s leadoff double), until the end. Time to start thinking ahead.
Braves lose 16-5

Mets’ bats bail out Jacob deGrom in win over Braves
Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: By now, I’m sure you’re all tired of hearing about this game. I sure am. We got our little a$$$$ handed to us by the Mets and that’s okay. Because there is still plenty of baseball to be played…in fact 136 games.
Colon didn’t have his stuff, our bullpen definitely didn’t, the bats were slow and couldn’t come up with big hits. This Mets lineup doesn’t look great on paper, but it’s nothing to sleep on. Hopefully, Jaime Garcia can cool them off on Thursday.
"That Jacob deGrom rarely looked comfortable in a five-inning slog was reduced to a footnote by an offense that set a season high in runs (16) and hits (20), while collecting nine doubles, one short of tying the franchise record.Even with Yoenis Cespedes sidelined with an injury, the Mets have scored at least five runs in seven straight games, powered by the emergence of a trio of struggling veterans that had been a drag on the lineup.Jose Reyes equaled a career high with five RBIs, Neil Walker knocked in a run and collected a pair of hits, and Curtis Granderson ripped a pair of doubles."

Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: The 24-year-old had another very unforgettable outing on Wednesday night. He threw 1.1 innings, gave up four hits, three runs and two walks. Every ball that was hit, was hit hard. His ERA stands at 12.60 for the 2017 season with the Atlanta Braves. In his last two games, Wisler allowing seven runs through two innings.
Though we’ve always known him to have a low-key look to him, he just looks uncomfortable on the mound right now. He’s leaving everything right over the plate and doesn’t have great velocity on his pitches.
Wisler enjoyed his first two outings with the Braves in 2017, but the past two appearances have been disastrous. He’s going back down to Triple-A Gwinnett to see if he can figure this out. Gwinnett may use him in the bullpen or as a starting pitcher…not sure yet. He started three games earlier this year in Gwinnett.
Braves are expected to make a corresponding roster move at some point today. Could Mauricio Cabrera be ready to return to ATL?
