Atlanta Braves and GM John Coppolella have traded a lot in recent years, ever wonder how we got where we are?

Braves and Coppy love to trade…but has anyone sat down and dissected all the trades?

On October 1, 2015 the Atlanta Braves announced that John Coppolella was being promoted to General Manger and had signed a four-year contract.  But that wasn’t the beginning of the 37-years-old (yes, Coppy is only 37) days in Atlanta.

Coppy joined the Braves organization in 2006 as Director of Baseball Operations and worked his way up the latter to Assistant General Manager in 2012.  Once Frank Wren was fired in 2014, John Hart took over with Coppy heavily involved.  Then the official move came in October of 2015.

With the two John’s in place, the entire organization took a complete left turn.  Their vision was to redevelop “The Braves Way” and get back to where this organization once was.  It all started with developing young talent from within the minor league system and mostly building around the pitching staff.

More from Braves News

What have these two done in the past year and a half?  Too many trades to count, drafted really well, made smart veteran decisions, somehow got rid of Hector Olivera’s issues and have really transcended this fan base.

Major League Baseball, more than any other professional sport, has numerous trades within each year.  Trades are tough to pull off, but somehow teams do so.  And somehow Coppolella trades very frequently!

Especially at first, Coppy was on an entirely different level with his transactions.  Most of us couldn’t keep up.  It’s calmed down a little, but we’re still on the seat of our chairs waiting for the next more to come through.

Since keeping up is tough, luckily @MDubs has had his pencil and paper handy.  He’s put together an amazing bubble sheet of all moves the Braves organization has made under the leadership of Coppolella and Hart.

Take a look…

It’s so cool to look back and see how the Braves got to where we are at today.  Like all the small trades that have benefited us greatly…aka the Victor Reyes to Arizona for the 2015 #75 pick in the draft which got us AJ Minter, and the trades for the international money.

Next: Up for an extended audition: Rio Ruiz

Great stuff here! Appreciate it @MDubs, got follow him!
