Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: The Atlanta Braves destroyed the Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday night…and it was AMAZING!!  After losing both Monday and Tuesday to those damn Phillies, the Braves came out swinging!  The Braves were up 4-0 heading into the bottom of the 7th inning when they scored 10 runs in the next two innings.

Mike Foltynewicz threw seven complete innings, gave up four hits, no runs, two walks and had four strikeouts.  Folty is now 4-5 in the 2017 season with a 3.48 ERA.  In his last two games, he’s pitched like the best pitcher in the NL.

Adonis lands on 10-day disabled list

Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: No one can predict when an injury occurs, but they’ve been stacking up on Adonis Garcia recently.  The 32-year-old returned just six days ago from the 10-day DL after suffering from Achilles tendinitis in his left leg.  Garcia was 6-19 at the plate since returning from the disabled list.

Prior to the game, David O’Brien tweeted out that Braves manager Brian Snitker told reporters that “Garcia was checked out by a hand specialist today and isn’t injured seriously, could play if had to and available to PH.”  I think the Braves saw this as an injury that could linger and force Garcia not to be able to pinch hit.  Atlanta made the decision to not go with a short bench and place Garcia on the DL.

Outfielder Lane Adams was recalled to the Atlanta Braves….he becomes the first player since June 6, 2014 to play in a minor league game and major league games.  Adams went 2-4 at the plate with Gwinnett during their afternoon game and then went 0-2 at the plate with the Atlanta Braves.

"Before Wednesday night’s 14-1 victory over the Phillies, the Braves announced Garcia had been placed on the 10-day disabled list with a strained left ring finger. Outfielder Lane Adams was recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett to fill a bench spot.Garcia felt discomfort when he took a swing during the ninth inning of Tuesday night’s loss to the Phillies. He completed the at-bat and seemed to provide some favorable signs as he took swings in the indoor batting cages on Wednesday afternoon. But the Braves ultimately decided they could not risk going short on their already short bench for a few days.Rio Ruiz will now serve as Atlanta’s starting third baseman. This is the same role Ruiz filled when Garcia was on the disabled list from May 16-June 1 with left Achilles tendinitis."

Next: Braves Sean Newcomb & Matt Wisler both will start on Saturday

Phillies send out Lively arm for series finale vs. Braves (Jun 08, 2017)

Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: In today’s series finale against the Phillies, the Braves will face Blake Lively…wait no, sorry Ben Lively.  Too bad though, I would rather watch her.

BEN Lively will be starting his second MLB game against the Braves.  His debut was this past Saturday against the Giants where he allowed fours hits and one run in seven innings pitched.  The Braves usually struggle with pitchers who they don’t have much tape on so good luck!

Atlanta will send out knuckleball pitcher R.A. Dickey…one night following the flamethrower Foltynewicz.  This is the situation the Braves want though…the gas from Folty and then taking a complete left turn with Dickey’s knuckleball.

First pitch is scheduled for 7:35pm ET.

"Philadelphia Phillies rookie right-hander Ben Lively will be trying to build off his impressive major league debut as he faces the Atlanta Braves on Thursday night in the finale of the teams’ four-game series at SunTrust Park.In contrast, veteran knuckleballer R.A. Dickey — Lively’s senior by 17 years — will be trying to recapture some of what made him a Cy Young Award winner five seasons ago as he takes the mound for the Braves.Lively (1-0, 1.29 ERA) gave the Phillies a big lift on Saturday, allowing four hits and a run in seven innings at Philadelphia in a victory over the San Francisco Giants. The 25-year-old also had a hit to make it a memorable first game."
