Atlanta Braves drop game two 8-1; get swept in double header against Mets
By Dan Horton
Matt Wisler started game two of the double header against the Mets. The Atlanta Braves hurler went 6 innings striking out 7 but the Braves dropped the second game of the twin-bill.
Atlanta Braves starter Matt Wisler was doing well until he ran into a speed bump in the 5th. After getting two quick outs, Wisler walked Michael Conforto, Jose Reyes singled to center field and advanced to 2nd on a error by Danny Santana.
The next batter was Jay Bruce and Wisler served up a 3-run home run to Bruce that gave the Mets a 3-0 lead. The Mets added another run in the 6th.
Wilmer Flores, who to this point had been scorching the Braves pitchers, continued to do so by tripling to center. A strike out to Curtis Granderson netted out number one.
Travis d’Arnaud flied out to Nick Markakis that was deep enough to plate Flores. That SAC fly pushed the Met lead 4-0 after 6 innings.
The Braves got on back in the 7th. After 2 outs in the inning, Dansby Swanson doubled soundly to deep left field, and Johan Camargo had a great at bat and won the battle against Steven Matz. Camargo singled home Swanson on an opposite field single to ge the Braves on the board.
After a quiet bottom of the 7th, the Mets added on a couple more runs. That guy again, Wilmer Flores has killed the Braves pitchers all day long. A double by Flores led off the 8th and after a Granderson strike out and a d’Arnaud ground out, pinch hitter T.J. Rivera homered to make it 6-1 Mets.

It was yet again, another quiet inning for the Braves in the 8th. However, as the teams were changing sides, Matt Kemp, who grounded out to end the inning, didn’t like a called strike two in that at bat.
Kemp continued to argue/question the call in the dugout and home plate umpire Phil Cuzzi had heard enought. He ran Kemp from the game. Kemp’s tossing was a microcosm of the night for the Braves frustrations on the day.
In the 9th, the Mets loaded the bases. A reversed call at a bang-bang play at first was the key play in the inning. Wilmer Flores (again) beat out an infield hit that was initially called out.
The Mets challenged the call and it was overturned. That loaded the bases for Juan Lugares. Lugares proceeded to line a double into left field off Braves reliever Eric O’Flaherty. That made it 8-1 Mets in the 9th.
Tyler pill came on to close it out for the Mets in the 9th. He sent the Braves away in ordewr to secure the win and sweep of the double header.
The Mets and Braves wrap up the series tomorrwo afternoon at 1:35 PM EDT. Seth Lugo goes for the Mets and Jaime Garcia for the Braves.
