Julio Teheran Was Pummeled With 7 Earned Runs Before Exiting After 3 Innings While The Atlanta Braves Couldn’t Come Up With Any Runs

The Atlanta Braves came in today winning 4 consecutive series (including this one) as they attempted to get a 3-game sweep against the Milwaukee Brewers… but at no point in this game did it look like they had a chance. The Brewers’ starting pitcher, Zach Davies was jamming the Braves’ bats all day.

7. 76. Final. 0. 17

Julio Teheran continued to struggle at home as he gave up 7 runs in 3 innings. He gave up 7 hits total – including a lead-off double from Davies in the 4th – before being pulled.

In the 1st inning, with 1 on, he gave up a homer to Travis Shaw. He also gave up another home run to Keon Broxton the next inning.

The closest to scoring for Atlanta was in the bottom of the 2nd when Matt Adams led off the inning with a single. After Kurt Suzuki flew out, Dansby Swanson reached first safely on an error.

However, Adams would then get picked off moments later by Orlando Arcia who managed to receive the throw and tag Adams inches before he slid his hand in.

This only hurt the Braves more because Johan Camargo followed with a single that would have scored Adams. Teheran would then ground out to end the inning.

Bullpen Time

Luke Jackson would take over for Teheran in the 4th and pitched 4 good innings, striking out 4 and giving up only 2 hits. He allowed 1 run in the 4th but that would be charged towards Teheran’s 7 earned runs.

Jason Hursh – who’s been quietly doing pretty well in the bullpen – and Ian Krol followed after Jackson to pitch out the game. The bullpen did a fine job keeping the Brewers from adding to the damage Teheran created, but it didn’t spark the Braves offense as they only got 2 more hits after Teheran left.

In the bottom 8th, Ender Inciarte fouled a ball off his toe which may have worried Braves fans when he started walking around gingerly and had the trainer come out. However, to put those worries away, he laid one on the ground for a bunt single, showing he was okay.

The Braves still take the series though after winning the 1st two games. Their home record is now an even 20-20 (36-39 overall).

Also, The Freeze came back in dominant fashion…during today’s race and even came up with a new brand slogan.

Now the Braves have an off-day tomorrow before heading back over to the west coast for a 3-game series against the San Diego Padres. Sean Newcomb (0-2) is expected to take the mound against former Braves pitcher Jhoulys Chacin (6-6).
