It has been several months since we looked at the Atlanta Braves’ attendance at SunTrust Park. Now into the season’s last stretch of home games, let’s see how they’ve done.

The Atlanta Braves have made it to their final homestand of the 2019 season, booked with six consecutive games at SunTrust Park this week.

After Sunday’s (Sept. 22) series’ finale versus the San Francisco Giants, the Atlanta Braves will embark on a five-game road trip, matching up with the Kansas City Royals and New York Mets, and then it’s the end of the 2019 regular season campaign.

But back to this current homestand.

In May, I wrote a piece detailing MLB’s attendance woes in 2019, highlighting the fact that after 14-straight seasons the league was experiencing a drop in attendance — a 4-percent decrease across the board since last season.

At that juncture in the season, only five teams were enjoying an increase in attendance:

  • LA Dodgers
  • NY Mets
  • Texas Rangers
  • San Diego Padres
  • Philadelphia Phillies

Not only were 25 other teams in the league suffering, but there were four such teams that had as much of a 25-percent decrease in attendance, including the Toronto Blue Jays, who had a loss as big as 34 percent (ouch).

So as you can see, attendance was a league-wide issue 18 weeks ago. What about now, though? And more importantly, how have the Atlanta Braves fared since then, especially considering their current playoff picture?

With the Atlanta Braves looking to clinch the division this week, hopefully fans will flock to see that happen and finish off the regular season homestand in strong fashion by supporting this team.
