Here’s A Radical Idea To Pump Up The Offense

Hello again everyone from the land that Spring forgot but Summer suddenly adopted, southeast Michigan.

This will be a short post, as it’s an idea that just popped into my head and I wanted to throw it out there for everyone to shoot holes in, laugh at, or otherwise bend, fold, or mutilate. And, if it reeks of desperation, I think you all can understand.

Here’s the idea: why not let David Ross try left field? He played one game there in the minors (and five others at first base). He’s quick and athletic for a catcher. He’s got a great arm. It’s certainly not unheard of. And it’s not like Eric Hinske is a good defender in the outfield.

While it would make no sense long term, maybe it would give Hinske the breather he obviously needs, it would give us a proven bat, and it would make good use of a roster spot (a really good thing when you have players you are loathe to use wasting other spots).

I think it’s not as crazy as it seems at first blush. What do you think?
