After a solid 4-1 victory Friday night, the Braves lost to the Astros 3-2 Saturday night.

  • In the low scoring series so far, the bullpens have been great.  Neither team has allowed a run outside of the starters.  The Astros bullpen has been especially good, only allowing three baserunners in 5 2/3 IP.
  • Paul Maholm lost his debut for the Braves, making it a poor showing for all major traded starters making their team debuts this year.  Zack Greinke, Anibal Sanchez, and Maholm all lost their first starts, while Ryan Dempster and Francisco Liriano each took no-decisions.
  • Justin Maxwell (pictured above) single-handedly beat the Braves Sat. night, going 4-4 with 2 HR and all 3 RBI.  Only receiving 200 PA before tonight, he raised his slashline from .230/.310/.455 to .247/.324/.500.
  • This was the first win for Houston in Atlanta since May 2009.  Times have changed, with Geoff Geary getting the win that day, while Jo-Jo Reyes started for the Braves.
