On Tuesday afternoon news came out that Atlanta Braves relief pitcher Cristhian Martinez went to see Dr. Andrews for a second opinion on his shoulder.  Once a player in any sport takes the unforgettable trip to the Andrews’ office, it usually is not good news.

Later in the day, we found out that Martinez didn’t just go, he had surgery to repair his shoulder.  Usually this surgery is a 7-8 month expected recovery time.

Cristhian was selected off waivers by the Braves on April 8th 2010 and has been with the team since.  He’s appeared in 120 games in his four years tenure with a 3.86 ERA.  The 31 year old is early arbitration eligible in 2014, we’ll have to see what the Braves decide to do.

Post surgery Martinez went on twitter to say a couple words…I’m guessing the surgery went well so we will have to give him his time to recover and hope he comes back stronger than ever!

Thanks to gods blessing surgery went well, i appreciate all the love and support given to me by the fans. See you soon, God bless. CMART50

Thank you guys for all your continuing support, surgery is a burden that many baseball players have to face, but i will overcome. CMART50
