Atlanta Braves Rumors: Braves Interested in David Ross

According to David O’Brien, the Braves beat writer from the Atlanta Journal Constitution, the Atlanta Braves are interested in bringing back old friend David Ross.

Ross played for the Braves from 2009 through 2012. His best seasons came in 2oo9 and 2010 when he hit .273/.380/.508 and .289/.392/.479 respectively. Ross is also a solid defensive catcher that was often praised by the pitching staff during his time in Atlanta. He developed into a fan favorite thanks to his friendly personality, and fans were sad to see him go when he signed with Boston after the 2012 season.

Ross was also known as a leader on those teams, and his presence was missed, especially last season. The interest in Ross leads me to believe that Atlanta may be getting close to a deal for either Evan Gattis or Justin Upton. This is pure speculation, but Gattis being traded or moving to leftfield full-time would leave the Braves in need of catching depth behind Christian Bethancourt. Enter David Ross? Stay tuned.
