Atlanta Braves Reassign Outfielders Todd Cunningham and Joe Benson To Triple-A Gwinnett

The Atlanta Braves tweeted out Saturday afternoon that they have made two moves already today which gets them a little closer to a final Opening Day roster.

After releasing Wandy Rodriguez, Jesus Flores, Jose Constanza and sending Chien Ming-Wang to Gwinnett, the Braves MLB roster sat at 34 players in their camp.

Now, let’s remove two more names…I believe we sit at 32 players as of 1:30.  The deadline to get down to the 25-man roster is noon on Sunday.

Todd Cunningham and Joe Benson were both reassigned to the Gwinnett Braves.

Should this surprise you?  Well kinda, but at this point does anything surprise you??

This move will now put the Braves in a spot where they need a backup centerfield option.  Joey Terdoslavich could be an option for an outfield spot but can’t play center.  He’s dealing with a sore wrist and we all thought he would be reassigned because of that.  Kelly Johnson will make the final roster and can play outfield but probably not center.

Does this mean another move is on it’s way for the Braves??

Saturday is the final day of the 2015 Spring Training season.  The game versus the Baltimore Orioles is at 6pm ET.
