Who Are The Braves and Who’s Hot At the Quarter Pole
By Fred Owens
With one quarter of the season gone the team has settled in and we can tell what they are and where they are going. We can also see who’s trending up and who’s headed the other direction.
Who Are The Braves?
When we made our preseason predictions I said the Braves would be a sub 500 ball team winning about 75 games. Currently however they are hovering around the break even mark at 21 and 21 exactly their Pythagorean. I’d like to say that’s because the team is better than expected and in some ways they are. Mostly however the Braves can thank injuries to key players on the Marlins and Jeffry Loria deciding to run the Fish like Rachel Phelps ran the Indians but with less success.

Marlins pitching hasn’t been what it looked like on paper so even though their lineup is better than the Braves in at least five positions they’ve not been able to break even with the Braves. Were they even close to that the Braves would be four games under and about where many expected.
