John Hart looks into the draft crystal ball and tries to pull out major league players Please credit Grpahic created by Fred Owens for Tomahawk Take from multiple sources

Draft day 2015 is finally upon us. If you read my previous posts (if you didn’t why not, don’t you like me?)  you’ll know that this is a thin draft, with lots of similar arms and shortstop heavy.

The Braves are always a conundrum for the pundits and this year they are even more puzzling because when John Hart too over he didn’t just install new carpet , he did a complete remodel in a traditional theme – Braves traditional them that is.  He returned the people who built the dynasty during the streak and gave them a directive to restore the player pipeline in the Braves farm system.

Brian Bridges and company are leading the charge to carry out that directive. In an interview with Mark Bowman, Bridges spelled out his mission.

"We want to get back to what we did, and what we did successfully as a Braves family (in the past). We drafted high-end high school players that are healthy, that are championship-caliber players."

During the game yesterday Bridges said he was looking for high upside athletes – preferably multisport athletes in the interview linked above he fleshed that out.

"I’ve put a lot of weight and emphasis on multi-sport players. They don’t necessarily have to be on the showcase circuit, might be a name you haven’t heard, it might be somebody that doesn’t make sense. . . He’s going to be athletic, he’s going to have the ability to play here at SunTrust Park. … I want guys who have failed in another sport, I want guys who have been hit in the teeth, where it’s not just, ‘Hey, mom drove me to the ballpark, carried my bag out there for me, and brought me a Gatorade.’ . . .I want guys that can handle being put in that situation."

The consensus first pick for the Braves is Cornelius Randolph. Tyler Stephenson who once held that spot is now believed to be going higher. All of this depends on who is till on the board, everything changes depending on who the team in front of you draft.

Tonight we get to see what that means and who the picks will be. This is a live thread, join in and let’s talk about what we see and hear. I’ll be listening to the draft on XM and watching the Braves on TV. This should be interesting if nothing else.
