Atlanta Braves News: Morning Chop, Box Score, Roster Moves – Ryan Kelly
By Jeff Schafer
Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: Atlanta Braves starter, Julio Teheran, continues to struggle on the road. He gave up another six runs on Saturday afternoon, five of which came in the first inning. Four singles, a double, a hit by pitch and a walk all led to five runs in the bottom of the first inning. The Braves offense was able to find some runs as they scored one run in the third inning and three in the seventh inning, but it wasn’t enough. Bone bruise lands Braves rookie starter Williams Perez on DL
Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: After a stellar start to his rookie season, Williams Perez will have to spend time on the sidelines. After being hit in the foot by a line drive back to the pitcher’s mound, Perez will be on the 15-day DL with a bone bruise. The injury is on his landing foot so the Braves will give the proper time for this injury to heel. Perez was 4-0 with a 2.88 ERA in eight games as a starter for the Braves.
"The Atlanta Braves have placed rookie starting pitcher Williams Perez on the 15-day disabled list with a bone bruise in his left foot.Perez, unbeaten in eight starts, left Friday night’s loss to Pittsburgh in the fifth inning shortly after getting hit in the foot with a line drive off the bat of Pirates third baseman Josh Harrison. Perez attempted to stay in the game but left two batters later. X-rays were negative but Perez said the foot felt worse on Saturday morning and it was unlikely he would have been able to make his next start."

Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: The trade that shocked social media a week ago – the Arizona Diamondbacks sent Bronson Arroyo and 2014 number one draft pick Touki Toussaint to the Atlanta Braves for utility man Phil Gosselin. Toussaint will get his first start with the Braves on Sunday with the Rome Braves. Game starts at 2:00pm ET at State Mutual Stadium.
"Right-hander Touki Toussaint will make his Braves system debut when the Rome Braves continue a five-game series at home against the GreenJackets.Toussaint briefly became a household name all over again when he was traded from the Arizona Diamondbacks to the Braves late at night on June 20. Despite Bronson Arroyo also coming to the Braves, Toussaint was the centerpiece as a 2014 16th overall pick out of a Florida high school who was ranked among the top 100 prospects in baseball. The Diamondbacks dealt the two to Atlanta for utility player Phil Gosselin in a salary dump that has Arroyo’s $10 million going on the Braves’ books. It was essentially a purchase of that amount for Toussaint."

Canton Elementary Student Wins Atlanta Braves Baseball Experience
Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: The Braves continue to impress the community, as this time they award a child with tickets to a ball game. Will Anderson had to have heart surgery as a newborn and had to use a feeding tube to eat until recently. He has just completed his 11th surgery.
"A Canton Elementary School student has won a chance to see the Atlanta Braves in action.Seven-year-old Will Anderson is a winner of the 2015 Superior Plumbing Club Contest, which gives special needs students an opportunity to see an Atlanta Braves game in the Superior Plumbing Club at Turner Field.Located between home plate and third base, the Superior Plumbing Club offers each guest an intimate setting from which to view the game. Superior Plumbing selects lucky special needs students from all across the southeast to attend the home games at Turner Field."
