Yes, you heard that right: power.  All the scoring was generated from two homers, courtesy of Jonny Gomes and Juan Uribe… both players named ‘John’ on the roster.

Julio Teheran looked to be fighting through his start, but did so with 7 scattered hits, 3 walks and 4 punchouts over 7 innings and 110 pitches.  Jim Johnson made it slightly interesting at the end, except that a leadoff single in the 9th was erased via double play, which made the second hit he gave up a lot more harmless… until the final out of the game, which was a scary fly ball to the left field warning track.

Nonetheless, the Braves escaped with just 7 hits of their own against Adam Morgan, who certainly pitched well enough to win for Philadelphia.  The two homers were the difference.

According to the forecasts I’ve seen, tonight’s game is in some jeopardy, with multiple rain delays possible.  Hmmm… that happened 30 years ago tonight, too
