Old home week continues at Atlanta Braves spring training as former gold glove center fielder  Andruw Jones returns to the fold.

Back Behind the Tomahawk

For the first time since leaving Atlanta in 2008, the best center fielder in Braves history will be wearing a Tomahawk on his chest. Yes friends Andruw is back but he won’t be patrolling the outfield.

After making an informal appearance last week and being told he’s being inducted into the Braves Hall of Fame this August, the Braves announced Monday that he’s been signed Andruw a special assistant to the baseball operations department.

What does that title entail? According to the Braves press release Andruw “. . . will continue to work with outfielders throughout the organization and also aid with some international initiatives.”

With all due respect to the Braves organizational outfield coaches, there’s really no one better suited to help Hector Olivera transition to the outfield or Mallex Smith learn the niceties of playing center field.
