Early Looks at Atlanta Braves Possible Trade Pieces

OK. So the pulse of Braves Country, overall, appears to be faint, and it’s heart rate is dropping. It’s going to be obvious that we will be sellers this July at the deadline.

The actual trade deadline this year is actually August 1st, due to July 31st being a Sunday.

The pieces the Braves hold are few, yes, but perhaps they can get us some half way decent bullpen arms. Then again, we may not trade anyone. However, I’d still like to explore the possibility of a trade or two happening.

I’m not looking to delve into details, just provide a few names that could possibly be moved.

Right now, our only offense is coming from Nick Markakis and Adonis Garcia. Some think Markakis is the guy that will get traded first. However, I think Garcia would be a more suitable trade piece.

Both him and Markakis aren’t in the long term plans for Atlanta. That being said, not counting last nights stats, Garcia is hitting .348. Markakis is hitting .296. Garcia sits at a .464 OPB and .943 OPS. Nick sits with a .355 OPB and .873 OPS.

These numbers are enticing to other teams and, if they keep it up, will draw interest before the deadline. We will be sellers, not buyers this year. But here’s where Garcia goes before Markakis I think … Contract.

Next: Maybe Adonis?
