Atlanta Braves News: The Morning Chop, Box Score, Chipper Jones Hasn’t Ruled Out Being Manager
By Jeff Schafer
Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: I said this on Twitter and I’ll say it again…man, it was fun watching the Braves win! Matt Wisler continues to pitch very well for the Atlanta Braves as he went 6.2 innings on Friday giving up five hits, one run, two walk. I picked Wisler up on my fantasy baseball team right before the game last night and I’m sure glad I did so. If he’s available in your league, go grab him before someone else does…this kid is for real!

Mark Wahlberg to Open Burger Joint at Atlanta Braves’ Cobb Park
Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: What won’t this ball park have? It’s very exciting that it will offer many different avenues for fans to entertain themselves with. Which means you’ll have to go back to do the next thing. Hopefully by then, the Braves play on the field matches all the new entertainment items this facility will have.
"The Atlanta Braves have announced eight new concepts for the mixed-use mecca around under-construction SunTrust Park, including a first-to-market burger joint by actor and entrepreneur Mark Wahlberg. The stadium’s entertainment and residential component, The Battery Atlanta, has been on something of a roll (unlike its associated MLB franchise), having landed concepts by Ford Fry, Linton Hopkins, and Antico Pizza, among others.Said Wahlberg himself in a press release (cue Baaaston dialect): “We think The Battery Atlanta will be the absolute destination around the Atlanta area with the new park and all the other things they’ll have in that development which is so exciting to me … For our family, it’s a great opportunity to be at The Battery Atlanta, so we’re thrilled.”"
Chipper Jones hasn’t ruled out managing Braves
Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: Chipper Jones had a conversation with Atlanta’s 680-AM The Fan on Friday and when Jones was asked about the Braves manager position, Jones didn’t rule anything out. Though this would be a huge fan favorite move, I’m not sure if it would be a great idea…yet. Chipper currently doesn’t have much coaching experience and it hasn’t been long since he was saying he needed some time away from baseball after traveling for 20 years. I think he needs to come back as some sort of coach…hitter, bench, third base, something to give him experience and make sure this is what he wants. I would love to see Chipper as the Braves manager, but I don’t want it to be a complete fail.
"“Chipper said he has had conversations with his wife, Taylor, and gave her the same response, but has not ruled it out. ‘We’ll cross the bridge when it gets here,’ he offered.”Funny enough, fired manager Fredi Gonzalez also came on to the show and threw his support behind Jones getting the job. His only stipulation is that he wants to be on Jones’ staff as a coach.“We’ve discussed this before, I want to be your bullpen coach when you come up,” Gonzalez told Chipper."
