Braves Comeback To Beat Marlins 3-2

The Atlanta Braves future might be looking bright in the minors, but we’re here to talk about the Braves in the majors!  The Braves showed they can bounce back after trailing early in a ball game.  They’ve now had 13 come-from-behind wins this season, including five straight victories.  Also the Braves are now 20-10 when allowing three or fewer runs.

Marlins starter Jose Fernandez pitched a great ball game against the Braves on Tuesday night.  He went seven strong innings, only allowing one hit and had seven strikeouts.

Braves starter Bud Norris had a solid start going 5.1 innings allowing seven hits, two runs, six strikeouts and two walks.

The Time My Wife Asked To Turn The Game Off

Down 2-0 in the top of the 8th inning, Emilio Bonifacio singled and Jace Peterson hit a bomb to right field…Giancarlo Stanton didn’t even move in right.

Right back in the game, Braves tie the game 2-2!

“It’s funny because I got my first career home run here and now got my first one of this season.  It’s a good team win, we battled the entire game and we’re able to come through.  It feels good to keep it going.”

Braves Strong Bullpen

Atlanta’s bullpen was amazing on Tuesday and how good is Dario Alvarez right now?!?

Alvarez, Alexi Ogando, Hunter Cervenka and Chris Withrow went 3.2 innings without allowing a run or a hit!  Also five strikeouts and no walks…gotta love those stats.

Jace Clearing Bases

In the top of the 10th inning Peterson was the hero once more.  He singled in Chase d’Arnaud and the Braves take a 3-2 lead.

Peterson started the season in Atlanta, getting regular playing time, but his offensive stats hovered around the .200 mark and never progressed.

The Braves sent Peterson down to Triple-A Gwinnett on May 2nd (was hitting .182) to figure out what he was doing at the plate and get his confidence back.  Other moves on this day were optioning RHP John Gant Gwinnett and designating Drew Stubbs for assignment.  Retrospective moves were recalling RHP Mike Foltynewicz from Gwinnett and selecting the contracts of Chase d’Arnaud, Matt Tuiasosopo and Reid Brignac.

More from Tomahawk Take

Peterson played in 26 games in Gwinnett as well as going on a paternity leave.  He hit .186/.275/.258 at the plate with six RBIs, eight runs scored, 15 strikeouts and 11 walks.  So did he figure anything out?  Maybe confidence of being called back up

Since returning from his stint in Gwinnett, Peterson is 12-34 (batting average of .353) at the plate with six RBIs and nine runs scored.  What I’m most impressed by since his first game back in Atlanta on June 10, is his strikeouts to walks comparison.  He has five strikeouts compared to six walks.

“I’m just trying to take it one pitch at a time and not do too much.  I know all the hard work I’ve put in is going to pay off.  I’m just going to continue to stay focus, continue to work.  We’ve still got a long season to go so hopefully we can keep rattling off some wins.”

Win Streak!

The Braves are now on a six game winnings streak!! That streak includes facing pitchers Matt Harvey, Steven Matz, Jacob deGrom and Jose Fernandez.

“Everyone is calm and having fun.  It’s probably the most important thing is to have fun and we’re able to do that right now.  We’re going to keep going hard and we’ll see what happens.”

The Braves and Marlins are back at it tomorrow at 12:10PM ET.  Make sure you plan accordingly with your bosses.
