Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: I think we can all agree, even if you didn’t watch the game and just looking at the box score, that the OFFENSE was fun to watch on Friday night.  Other than that — Chris Withrow came out of the pen to throw 1.2 innings and Mauricio Cabrera hit over 100mph a couple times.  Let’s get back to the offense though.  Braves had 15 hits on the night, four walks and 11 runs scored!  Almost everyone in the lineup had at least one hit — expect Erick Aybar who has been hot recently.  It was nice to see our guys swinging the bats well and oh yeah, did I mention it was against one of the best pitchers in the game?? Atlanta knocked White Sox starter Chris Sale out of the game after the 5th inning as he gave up 10 hits, eight runs, two walk and three home runs.  For more of a recap, check out Alan’s report.

Boston Red Sox trade rumors: Atlanta Braves’ have ‘crazy’ price for Julio Teheran, Arodys Vizcaino

Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: This articles point??  Braves General Manager John Coppolella has been saying this for weeks and hasn’t backed away from his comments…of course we’re looking for a crazy return.  What do they think we’ll just hand Teheran and Vizcaino away?  Come on, man!  If the Red Sox want Teheran, they’ll have to pay the price.  For more info about a trade scenario  with the Red Sox check out Fred’s post and/or Alan’s post on this topic.

The Boston Red Sox need starting pitching, and they’re not alone on the MLB trade deadline market. As a result, the Atlanta Braves are reportedly taking advantage of that market by driving a hard bargain.

According to WEEI.com, the Braves front office has a big-time asking price for their two young, talented pitchers — starter Julio Teheran and closer Arodys Vizcaino.

From WEEI:

"“According to one Major League Baseball executive, the Braves continue to request teams to ‘back up the truck’ for both Teheran and Vizcaino, with the asking price continuing to be ‘crazy’ heading toward the Aug. 1 deadline.”"

Ozzie Albies fueling second-half success of M-Braves

Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: I’m extremely jealous of anyone living near the Trustmark Park (Mississippi Braves field) or any other Double-A play field that may be playing the Braves this month.  With these minor league fields, you’re usually right on top of these players and they talk and sign autographs before and after the games.  Albies and Dansby Swanson on the same field, yes please!

Ozzie Albies has played a pivotal role in the success of the M-Braves, who are 8-6 through 14 games. Albies came up big in the M-Braves’ latest win, a 3-2 victory over Montgomery, tallying two hits, including a triple that gave his team an early 1-0 lead.

Albies, one of the Braves’ top prospects, had been up in Georgia with Triple-A Gwinnett, where he has seen action in 56 games this year. He hit .248 in Triple-A while driving in 20 runs.

Now he’s back in Double-A where he started the season and looked flat out dominant, batting .369 before his promotion to Gwinnett.

Dodgers Acquire PTBNL To Complete Bud Norris Trade

Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: The Atlanta Braves traded Alec Grosser, a 6’4″ 205 pound right-handed pitcher from T.C. Williams High School, to the LA Dodgers in exchange for Phil Pfeifer and Caleb Dirks.  This trade happened a few days ago, but the looming question was the PTBNL in the deal.  Well, here it is folks…Grosser was the player to be named later.  The 21-year-old was pitching for the Danville Braves in 2016 and has pitched only 3.1 innings this year in three appearances.  Grosser was drafted by the Braves in the 11th round of the 2013 MLB Draft.

The Dodgers have acquired minor league righty Alec Grosser from the Braves, Los Angeles announced on Twitter. He becomes the player to be named later in the dealthat sent Bud Norris out west.

Grosser serves to balance out the young talent changing hands in the swap. Outfielder Dian Toscano and cash also went to the Dodgers in the arrangement, with minor league pitchers Caleb Dirks and Phil Pfeifer constituting Atlanta’s side of the bargain.

The 21-year-old Grosser was an 11th-round selection in the 2013 draft. He had shown some promise early in his professional career at the Rookie ball level, but failed to master the Class A level last year. That led to a return to the Appalachian League this season, where Grosser has experienced pretty ugly results in a tiny sample.
