Another year passes with another ugly weekend in Denver.  Braves cannot seem to get anything going beyond the Central Time Zone.

It’s not good not matter how you slice it:  Atlanta is now 2-8 after the All-Star Break and losers of 5 in a row.  But the road futility out West is getting hard to ignore:

  • Colorado 0-4
  • San Diego 1-2
  • LA Dodgers 0-3
  • Arizona 0-3
  • …with a trip to San Francisco still to come

In 2015….

  • San Diego 0-3
  • Colorado 0-4
  • Arizona 1-2
  • San Francisco 2-2 (!)
  • LA Dodgers 1-2

That’s a 1-10 record this season; 4-13 last season… both worse than the overall records at the time.  That doesn’t even count the other Rockies’ series that occurred at The Ted this year where the Braves went 1-2… only barely eking out a lone 1-0 win.

More from Tomahawk Take

This from a team that used to be in the National League West, but of course that’s all ancient history at this point.  So is the early domination against the Colorado Rockies from when they came into the league.

Regardless of geography, the Braves are clearly not playing well.  12 runs scored in 4 Coors games isn’t going to win very often, and the pitching hasn’t held up its end of the bargain either.

A jolt is needed… and this last week before the trade deadline looms over the club:  changes will definitely be coming, but it’s hard to say exactly how and when.

Meanwhile:  Atlanta is now 33-66, 4.5 games behind their next opponent – Minnesota – for the worst record in baseball.  That 2017 first overall pick and a pace for a 54-108 record is looking a lot more likely now.
