Atlanta Braves News: The Morning Chop, Box Score, Free Gloves For Fans??
By Jeff Schafer
Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: What a schedule the Atlanta Braves had mid-September…Washington Nationals, New York Mets, followed by the Miami Marlins. Looking at that a couple weeks ago, it didn’t look good for us in September. BUT, the Braves got hot and are playing like an actual playoff contender. The rotation has been pitching well, the bullpen has been keeping us in games and the offense is clicking very nicely. Thursday, the Braves even won a game where we didn’t have Dansby Swanson in the lineup…and Gordon Beckham went 2-3!! Ender Inciarte, Freddie Freeman and Matt Kemp stole the show last night. These guys went a combined 5-11 with five RBIs and five runs scored. The game started very well for the Braves as Inciarte hit a triple off Marlins starter Jose Urena and Adonis Garcia drove him in with a groundout. In the 3rd innings, the Braves scored four runs and we all couldn’t help but cheer loudly. Kemp had two homers in this game, one in the 3rd inning and a solo in the 6th inning.
Braves WIN 6-3

Ex-hatchet thrower Collmenter likes what he sees in Braves
Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: So did the Braves actually find a 2017 starter in Josh Collmenter? Atlanta will have contractual control of the right-handed pitcher for one more season and he’s pitching like he wants to stay here. On Thursday night, he went seven innings, gave up five hits, two runs, two walk and had four strikeouts against a team that’s fighting hard to stay in the Wildcard race. The Braves have now one six in a row and haven’t lost, as DOB says below, since Collmenter’s debut in ATL. He’s like a second coming of Matt Kemp.
"The Braves haven’t lost since Josh Collmenter made his debut Saturday against the Nationals, when he pitched five solid innings and they began a five-game winning streak they take into his start Thursday in a series opener at Marlins Park.So it’s understandable that Collmenter’s view of the team might be a bit skewed. Still, the 30-year-old, six-year veteran has been around enough to know good talent and clubhouse chemistry when he sees it.“It’s been really good,” Collmenter said of his first week with the team. To which I asked, good as in the clubhouse vibe? Yeah, absolutely. That’s one of the things, you can be on a really good team and have a bad clubhouse and it just doesn’t feel right. Or you can be on a team (that has a bad record) with a good clubhouse, and it feels like you’re right in the thick of things. That’s very much how it’s been here.”"
Atlanta Braves will lend you a glove if you’ve left yours at home
Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: How cool of an idea is this?!? Many people bring their gloves to ball games to try and catch a fly ball, you see it every game. What if you’re shopping with the family, grab a beer with buddies, or taking your kid zip-lining…you probably won’t want to carry your glove around to those different things. So now, you can borrow a glove when you get to the field and then return it afterwards. You’ll have to leave either a credit card or driver’s license in order to prevent theft for these gloves, but I’ll tell you what, with all these new things at the new SunTrust Park this flies up to my top 5.

"Headed to the ball park but forgot your glove? Don’t worry, the Atlanta Braves have got you covered. At the Braves’ new ball park, which is opening in 2017, visitors will be able to borrow gloves — for free. That way they can catch foul balls and homers without relying on their bare hands.“We want fans to be really comfortable when they come to games,” said Braves President of Business Derek Schiller. “We haven’t found that this has ever been done before.”"
